ISRO Chandrayaan 2 launched | In coversation with Srinivas Laxman and Siddharth Pandey

After a successful launch, ISRO's Chandrayaan-2 mission is on its 47-day journey to the Moon's South polar region. After Chandrayaan-1 confirmed the presence of water-ice on the surface of the Moon in 2009, Chandrayaan 2 will further study the location and amount of these deposits, as well the Moon's mineral content, make 3D maps of the landscape and record moonquakes. If the landing on 7 September 2019 is a success, it will cement India's position as a leading low-cost space power. Tech2's editor Ankit Vengurlekar talks to space journalist Srinivas Laxman, Siddharth Pandey, head of Amity's new Centre for Astrobiology about the launch, what the mission will do, and what to expect over the days to come.
